[selected] are continuing their monthly release series with their fourth EP. For this one Berlin local newcomer Karl Schwarz takes the reins and delivers an unapologetic kickdrum massacre, garnished with massive trance leads.
The title track „She Walks Away” loses no time and starts off ruthlessly. Once the first break is served, the listener knows what they are in for. By the second one, the composition turns manic, pushing its freakish pursuit to the limit.
At first sight „Answer To Nothing” restrains itself from its predecessor’s deranged mind games – but frees itself from its chains after broken, ritualistic drums initiate the diabolic synth line, which is characteristic for Schwarz’ style.
With „Strange Figure” the percussion starts to roll and powers forward to new beginnings. The unmistakable trance stab creeps out of the woodwork and takes over the atmosphere by storm. A strong no prisoners mentality from start to finish – you would expect nothing else.
Part Time Killer, one half of the duo Vermeer, finishes of the EP with his remix of the title track „She Walks Away”. The original’s trance lead takes a turn and is transformed into acid-like hallucinations, accentuated by individual hits of terror, while the unstoppable percussion demolishes its obstacles. That’s the stuff that nightmares are made of.
